Default BOOST SPIKE FIXED! or is it? HELP!

hey guys i have a vf39 and was experiencing boost spike at 4th gear in the higher RPM's. Cobb tuning says to combat this you need to dremel a hole in the restrictor pil with a #57 drill bit (.043") in one of the vacuum lines on the turbo.

it seems like the hole in the pill is already that size. i used the pill from my td04 because the vf39 didn't come with one.
i decided to just get the next biggest, #56 drill bit (.0465).

i was using my AP to measure the boost.
4th gear - 18.3psi-17.0psi in the higher RPM's

does this look normal to you guys?

you shold have 0.9 bar or 13.5 psi stock boost.

enlarging the opening in the restrictor pill will actually
lower overall boost. so the spike should lessen.

the larger the opening in the pill, less boost.

so no the boost you are experiencing is not
normal, unless your ecu is mapped for that
level of boost.

i am running Cobb's vf39 map.
target boost 16.5psi +/- .7 would be normal

i reset the ECU this time.
on 3rd gear the boost went to 18.0psi in the higher RPM's
but 4th gear goes around 16.5psi now.

do you think it's safe to just run my car like this?
or i might have to drill a hole slightly bigger

(could it be that im using my Cobb AP as a boost guage? readings might be inaccurate?)

I just checked. The map u are running on your accessport is not made for a vf39. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. You are using a turbo not designed for your tune. Try www.pdxtuning.com See if they have a ots map for vf39.

1.)CLICK ON WRX
2.)GO TO 2006 ACCESSPORT MAPLIST. NOT 2002-2005.
3.)CAREFULLY LOOK FOR "VF39 91/93 OCTANE MAP"
