Default Uppipe cat deletion on '07 LGT a big deal?

For those of us who'll stay stock, is this feature worth waiting for for '07 (and the rumored power increase)? Seems like I've head of a case or two of bits o' cat coming loose and damaging turbos.

Low member number and you STILL post in the wrong forum? How is this speculative question even remotely related to the 2.5L Powertrain forum?

If I had a 2002-2005 Turbo scoob (2006 Legacy turbo too) , i'd replace the uppipe immediately after I bought the car... But thats just me

Now that this post has wandered it's way into the Leg forum, here's my answer.

-If you want to buy a new Leg, and you're going to stay stock, it is not worth waiting until '07 simply because it might have a different up pipe.

There may be a bunch of other features worth waiting for (I haven't looked at '07 specs), such as a power increase as mentioned, but I'll venture that this specific one really doesn't matter.

There is no power increase for the 07 LGT. The specs are already out, subaru did a press release. The 06 got the catless uppipe and I'm guessing the 07 will have the catless upipe as well. There was no published power increase due to this chane.

Ahhhh...

I think it was Jon (?) who posted about the '07 changes earlier, including better grade plastics (though not a deal breaker, needed, IMO, on the console especially) plus additional HP.

Another benefit of waiting is the assumed increase in incentives on the '06s. Meanwhile I will drive one of the land barges... bike sale pending

if Im not mistaken the 07s have the Si-drive as well. I think all legacy turbo models for 07 get that.

For my money get the Spec B in 07. Im actually thinkin about trading!

'07 will also get the folding rear seats. I know that's important for some people. The Spec B gets the 6-spd too.

2006 does not have catless uppipe, and there is no power increase for 2007. In fact, thanks to new SAE standard, power on paper had decreased. down to 243/241. And the Spec B won't get more power either. Not sure about cat in uppipe for 2007.

Read the Subaru release on the 2007 Spec B:

http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...2006,+01:00+PM

The 2.5-liter intercooled turbo Boxer engine in the spec.B produces 243 horsepower @6,000 rpm and 241 lb.-ft. of peak torque @ 3,600 rpm.

actually, from what i've been told there IS a power increase, however due to the SAE ratings, it is NOT reflected in the new numbers...same goes with 3.0R models. there is nothing written to back this up, though. i'm sure there couldn't/wouldn't be, since the real numbers wouldn't matter anymore anyway as far as published #s...i suppose only a dyno will tell, right?

STI is down in power as well... 05/06 LGTs are putting down around 200HP to the wheels, we shall see what the 07s bring...

that power is still better than what us pre-turbo legacy owners had available when we bought our cars, so anything around that kind of power is good news... I'd take 200hp over my 165hp any day!!!

you mean more like your 120whp?

The 200 figure was at the wheels.
