Graph of horsepower/torque curve for phase I 2.5L?
Does anyone have a downloadable graph of the horsepower/torque curve for the phase I DOHC 2.5L engine?
THanks, Jason

This might be a question better asked in the NA powertrain forum. I am very interested in seeing the actual difference between the two graphs.

Yes there are some hybrid engines out there w/ the Phase 1 DOHC heads and the Phase 2 EJ25 block. Essentially the DOHC power curves will all be the same even if it's different blocks. What really changes the torque curve/power curve are the camshafts.
Shifting from the DOHC to the SOHC allowed 80% of the max torque to be available at 2XXXrpm's rather than the old DOHC which was 3XXXrpm's |

Phase 1 = DOHC
Phase 2 = SOHC |

Well, no luck in the NA Forum. Posted the same day I posted here, but that post is almost bumped to out of the forum already with no replies. Oh well.

Actually, there were three engines made for the 2.5GT. The 96 GT had a DOHC 2.5L that made about 150-155hp. 1997 GT's were given the "improved" DOHC 2.5L that people refer to as having the phase I block. This engine made about 10 more hp bringing the total to 165hp. In 98 there were no real changes but the 99 GT's were "blessed" with the phase II block and the DOHC heads (there is still speculation as to whether the DOHC heads flow better). Horsepower/Torque ratings did not change.
Finally, the 00 GT's and on were given the whole phase II engine (SOHC head and phase II block). Torque was up 4 lb/ft (with a significant increase in low-midrange torque) and horsepower stayed the same. Jason |

Jason, you can't forget that the MY '96 EJ25 with the 155hp requierd Premium gas. So the change that took place in the MY'97 EJ25 bumping the hp to 165 plus lowering the Octane rating was a pretty big step.
