Default HKS Turbo Timer & Factory Alarm - wires cut, but....

I know this topic has been covered many times in the forums. I actually did install a HKS TT Type1 this weekend, and I cut the 2 wires that everybody mentioned to bypass the alarm issue.
Well it works....sorta.

The TT times down and the car is still running after I pull the key out. When I hit the Alarm, it honks once like it is armed and the doors lock........but the alarm will not go off. I tested this by unlocking the doors then opening it without unarming the alarm. The alarm does not go off. Also the Security LED light keeps flashing now.....continously.

If I hold down the alarm it will go off, but other than that it seems the alarm does not work.

The only thing I could think of that I did wrong was test the TT before I cut both the Gray wire to the Security ECU and the Dark Green w/ Black trace wire to the Remote Entry ECU. I tried to test the TT when I just cut the wire to the Security, since then the Security LED keeps flashing.

Any thoughts? Has anyone run across this before? Would I be able to reset the security ECU? Would that do it?

Other than my alarm not working properly, the HKS TT is way too kool. It has lots of fun stuff!!!

I'm still not sure about cutting the wires. Nobody seems to have perfected the mod. I have the Type-1 just like you. The tach is off a little even after trying to set it with the learn mode. I tried to set it a little over or a little under 2000, but it does no good. I wish that I could just adjust it with the damn up/down buttons.

Default Strange....

I installed the Blitz DC Dual TT, cut the two wires, and everything works fine for me. When I read this post, I got a little worried so I ran to my car to test it out. Works perfect! Could it be your TT?

Thumbs up It Works, It works.....

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the concerns and comments. I just called the dealer today to explain my problem. It is actually very SIMPLE. The blinking Security LED was at 2 blink intervals. The Subie Service guy said that just might be that the alarm is now in"Valet" mode now. To turn it off Valet mode, all I had to do is hold down the disarm key(the small button) for a couple seconds. Now everything is KOOL!!! I tested this out today..... No more flashing annoying Security LED and not to mention, I can arm my car now.

Actually the Service guy has been trying to also bypass this Turbo Timer/Factory alarm issue. He did not know to also cut the Dark Green w/ Black Trace to the Remote Entry ECU along with the Gray wire to the Security ECU. Now he knows. Maybe he can cut me a break when I need something next time.....

It seems that this mod does work. Maybe when I tested the TT and alarm without cutting both wires I must have triggered the Valet mode. Seems it works fine now.

I also noticed that RPM is alittle off. I would say maybe about 100-150 rpms or so. I have not had a time to test it more. I just have had this installed since Saturday. So I set my shift indicator and redline about 200 below what I really want it.

Anyhow - just wanted to thank you for your comments and concerns and let you know that I did get this to work. Now I am just trying to get some material to make it look 'Flush'. I took my ashtray out and placed it in there......

WR_eXe -

Sorry....didn't mean to worry you. Everything works perfectly for me too now.

Question shock sensor

methadon

After reading your last post, I had to test this out. I didn't hit the windshield though. I kicked the tire. It gave me a warning honk. I kicked again and another warning honk. Well, I kicked just a tiny bit harder, and the alarm went off. Seems to work ok. I haven't had a chance to test somemore, I will when I get another chance. The entire neighborhood is sleeping now. Will have to try again tomorrow.
