hmmm..... i have a short ram right now. wonder if it would do anything if i just ran that up next to the short ram. maybe help cool the entire engine bay. currently running without a heat shield. any ideas if that might help at all? maybe instead of pulling the hot air from the engine bay it would pull the cooler air coming in? was it hard to do? what did you do with the other side doesn't have a hole in that side too?

people must forget how easy it is to run good times in a WRX...

allow me to whore my old times

2002 WRX
13.57@97.7mph with almost a 1.9 sixty foot. Mods - air filter, race gas, and mbc
October 2001

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...4&postcount=10

I can only imagine what I would have run with a 2.5l

Not much faster...

Same topend (and a HAIR more power on the 2.0l after 6k), but the 2.5l launches a little harder.

You also have 15-20 more whp...and the STi launches harder. Surely you're not saying a stage II WRX is faster than a stock STi?

The power after 5k is even in slight favor of the 2.0l. I think this is why we haven't seen the 06 "stage II" cars run any faster than the 2.0l's.

Not all of it is because a skilled driver like yourself hasn't been behind the wheel. Some fast guys who used to run good #'s in their 2.0l's aren't having the success they expected.

I'm sure you could talk your way into one and try your hand at it! I'd love to see the results

I know I've spoken to you before on the subject, but I'm betting you'll be losing time, not gaining it.

Losing that instant boost in favor of a few more peak HP is going to hurt you/ But I guess we'll see soon enough.

There is no way an OTS map is going to trap at 105+ though. So don't be dissapointed if you're at 13.1 at 103 like others...

A 2.0l with a TBE and an MBC doesn't get outrun by a "stage II" 2.0l. I think that effect is only going to be more so with the 2.5, because you're starting with a much close power level to the flashed car then the 2.0l is.

I don't see why anyone told would have thought that. I ran 13.09 @ 104 in a stage 2 '02 WRX. Though, I launched a lot harder than I should have.

woww, my 2004 2.0l WRX had almost the exact same mods (just with 100% less cobb):

JDM catless TBE (Fujitsubo catback, Kakimoto downpipe)
TurboXS uppipe
TurboXS UTEC (street-tuned by yours truely)
Ebay unequal-length header
HKS non-recirc BOV

and it ran a 13.27@100.1

an extra half-liter and a stock header=0.08 faster? Come on, weaksauce...

I think Bobby has the stage 2 record now that he is off of his MBC and on an ECU remap. Its XPT Stage 2 OTS map.

12.82 @ 105.51

More like an extra

"JDM catless TBE (Fujitsubo catback, Kakimoto downpipe)
TurboXS uppipe
TurboXS UTEC (street-tuned by yours truely)
Ebay unequal-length header
HKS non-recirc BOV"

and only 3 tenths and 3mph quicker than my times made in 2001?

Congratulations balex. Excellent run. The downside for you is that now the wannabe's will critique you and try to find fault in your approach. Fact is you didn't run your mouth, just your car and very well I might add.
