Default 2002 WRX Stage 1 Q

Got my AP last night and flashed to Stage 1 V1.30 93 Oct (BASE) map. Reset the ECU on the AP, not at the battery, and have driven about 75 miles since.

Still only managing to pull 13 lbs in 3rd and 4th gears, only about .5 PSI higher than my stock level although partial throttle response is improved.

How long does it typically take for the ECU to completely learn the new map and consistently hit the target boost levels ~14.5 PSI?

I noticed the HWG maps on the website but am put off by the 'at your own risk.'

I also read something about a vishnu trick and wastegate arm adjustments but cant seem to find the FAQ/Walkthroughs for these.

Would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance

usually take a tank full or so. i wouldn't do the hwg map or the wastegate adjustment quite yet. give it a good week or two.

Sounds good. If i see no improvements by this weekend I will seek alternative means..

What about flashing over to the Stage 1 93 realtime map even though im already on the Stage 1 93 base map?

you can try flashin to the realtime map. it didn't work for me though. what worked for me was the wastegate adjustment. i did that after 3 weeks of not hitting target boost.

Yes, it's learning. Just give it some time. As far as your question about switching to the real-time map, that won't change anything. You have a Stage 1 real-time on the AP so if you change to anti-theft or econo or something, you can switch back to Stage 1 using the real-time. The real-time maps are not "flashed" to the ecu. Your base map is. The real-times just change settings.

Before you jump to a HWG map or wastegate adjustment or ANYTHING, give it some time to learn. Did your AP come with an additional wastegate hose from Cobb? What gauge are you reading your boost on?

I didnt get an additional WG hose with my AP, should i have..?

I am reading on an OMORI Mechanical boost gauge, checked it against my live boost and it was really close.

It is 80+ degrees here so thats probably part of it. I am just being impatient i think. But with me, whatever can go wrong does so i am naturally nervous about having to use some risky map or make all sorts of other adjustments

I believe it was just the early maps, pre-AP, that came with the hose. The newer maps don't need it.

I think your car is just fine. Give it a couple of weeks, and it should be unstopable!

Enjoy!
