Post stereo question....

Hello all,

My stock stereo deck sucks and I would like to change it. How hard is it? Should I find a Clarion one (I think that's what I have in my 97GT) and so I don't need to change adaptor? I heard that Crutchfield is good. What about speakers? Actually, forget the speakers for now, my budget is really limited (~US$300).

Actually, I like to know what you have replaced with and how much?

Ernest, do you have the deck with the CD and Tape player. If so keep it and concentrate on other things. That deck puts out close to 22w/channel which is what most major brands do. Go for an amp (50x4) and replace your door and deck speakers. This will give you the most notable difference in the sound. As for crutchfield, there is much better. They sell all the stuff you can get at Circuit City for the same price. Try looking further into it with brands like CRYSTAL, MB QUART, and PHOENIX GOLD. That stuff isn't that expensive except for the MB's. Try soundcity.com for PG. They are pretty cheap and have the new and pretty decent Sony D-Series amps pretty cheap.

Stock CD/Tape Reciever
MB Quart 6 1/2 in deck
Stock in door
Phoenix Gold carbon composire XS-Series Subs Two 12"
Crossfire (made by Phoenix) amp (125x2)

legacygt99,

My stereo is the one with cassette only, also I have a Panasonic FM changer I think I should go back to look at the spec. of my stock stereo and see what I should really need.

THANKS!!
