In Canada, the LTD gets Auto only, UV Glass (this is bull), Leather Interior, and fancier radio.
That's about it... Oh yeah, the fancy LTD badge... |

Differences in the Limited include Leather, (fake) wood trim, height-adjustable seats, CD/Tape/WeatherBand Radio, and body-colored trim, including side skirts, front bumper spoiler and rear bumper spoiler. I think thats it. Also, I think only the 1999 GT Ltd. came with gold trimmed wheels. My 1998 has solid silver wheels, only the "LIMITED" and "2.5 GT" badges are gold. Hope this helps.

The difference is thousands of dollars and extra weight.

You don't have to have a LTD to get leather either, in 97 and 98 you could get leather as a stand-alone option on a "regular" GT.

Those gold "Limited" badges on the front doors serve as something of a flag to Subaru dealers. Basically it says "this customer enjoys spending large sums of money, so please make a special effort to overcharge him/her for everything you do".
![]() Baically the aurgument in favor of the limited goes like this: If you add the premium leather, the upgraded stereo, and a sunroof to a regular GT, you are spending more than you would if you just went out and bought the limited. Problem is after you buy the limited, you think to yourself, "Gee I spent all this money, and what do I have to show for it" ? The leather seats on the Subaru are no better than the regular seats on the standard GT, they just have leather on them. The Moon roof, while nice, seriously restricts the available head room (perhaps by as much as 2 inches), and there really isn't an advantage to having it in place of the regular sunroof if you always keep it closed so you don't bang your head against it... |

in 96 and 97, i believe the factory installed leather was only available on the limited. in 98, they sort of merged the two models.

I have a 97, non-Limited, with factory leather. I also have a 98 brochure which clearly lists leather as an option on non-Limited cars.

Right now I can get a Legacy for $100 over invoice through work.
I didn't know the GT wagon was only 80 pounds heavier than the limited sedan. Of course the limited has the weatherband radio Roger ![]() |

Geez Johnathan how tall are you? 6'5 or something? I am 6 feet and there are no problems with head room at all.
I think you also get the floor mats, rear seat cup holder and base cube under the drivers seat. Whoop-de-doo. Since I only paid a few hundred over invoice for mine I was okay with the extra frills.. Debagging the Ltd makes it look cooler though ![]() |

Hmm you might want to negotiate some more . I paid $1000 under invoice for my 98' GT wagon. My mom went to the same dealer a year later and got a 99' GT wagon for the same $1000 under invoice.

haha this is a funny post. there has been a lot of different thoughts thrown out here. Personally if you really want to know I would just go to subaru.com and look it up but basically the Ltd comes with side airbags upgraded stereo and leather. Thats basically it.
