Default Legacy LSD gear ratio question

Would a 1996 Legacy wagon rear LSD third member bolt right into my 1991 Legacy Sport Sedan?
How do I find out about what gear ratios are available... Being AWD, I wouldn't want to mismatch them, or did subaru put the same ratio in the two cars.
If there are different ratios available, where would I get vin decoder to find the numbers?

much thanks,

Ken

It will bolt right in, but the ratio of your 91 is going to be 3.90, and the 96 is probably a 4.11. Some more searching in this forum might net you a more definitive answer.

Also, I'm not aware of any 96 model that came equipped with an LSD.

Hmmm, the 95 5MT is 3.9, I think the 96 is the same.

The 96 did NOT come with an LSD. No BD/BG/BK did. At least not in the states

My 96 "L" was also a 3.9, it is now a GT 4.11

It's a JDM third member... der sorry, I should have mentioned this....

Thanks for answering my question... SO, it will bolt up no prob, but what about the gear ratio being different? will that be a problem, like with the front still being stock or does the viscous diff in my car forgive such a thing?

no, it'd be like running different size tires.

You need the same ratio front and rear, with no exceptions.
