Default Azenis RT615 235/40/17 or 255/40/17?

im debating what size tires to get for my new set of wheels. wheels on order r 17x8.5 with a +42 offset. my original plan was to run 255/40/17 with rear fenders rolled. after a little research i might need a very agressive aligment setup to go with it as well. my goal is to run a maximum of -1.5 rear camber, and no rubbing at all. but im not sure if thats gonna happen with the 255/40/17.

i talked to my friend the other day and he said 255 arent neccessary unless i have a lot of power. so now im thinking 235/40/17. what r the advantages of running 235 over 255 on a daily driven, occasionally tracked car? first of all i can worry less abt the rubbing issue, then maybe better gas mileage? right now im only stock, and i dont plan to exceed 300whp. any help especially from the tires guru would be greatly appreciated.

255's if you have 8.5's. 245's on my 8's look meaty as hell. the extra width makes for a much more stable ride as well

nope they only go 245/45/17 with the 615's and most say thats to tall, and if your low it will rub. Wich is a shame they dont make a 40 series.

yes if i go 245/40 i wil have to consider the FK452, which is a lower level than the RT615 performance wise.

The offset of the wheels I have is +50 and no, I didn't roll the rear fenders. I don't think it'll rub with +42 if you run a -1.7 or lower camber...which is still "OK" for daily driving. Get the 255...looks damn beefy! hehe.

im not worried abt either tires' performance on the street, as i think both would be more than enough. in fact, i think the FK452 would be a better street tire(softer sidewall, better wet traction). what im really concerned is performance on the track, as i do go to the track once in a while. since i cant afford another set of wheels specificly for track, this would be the only set of wheels for street/track.
