Default where to start?

hello everyone~

with so many options and choices i don't know where to begin!

things that i have right now...

04 STi with GT35R 1.06exh.
with all the usual supporting mods...

tuned by Dan Harman via utec
415whp with 353torque on a 91 oct tune pushing at 21psi.

all on STOCK BLOCK...

well i know that i'll be needing a new block sooner or later so i wanna do some quick research and i would appreciate any comments/help and suggestions...

i remember that the GT35R doesn't really kick until it hits around 25psi... with that in mind i would like a built block strong enough to handle that much of a load on a 91oct tune. (i am going to tune it on 95oct as well...)

is there are engine perfect for this kinda of a setup?
also should i ditch the UTEC and go with a standalone?

thank you in advance....

Amen, tons of choices. You can wade through them yourself or find a reputable vendor--which is easier said than done.

Pistons are your primary concern. The stock forged rods are considered very strong, strong enough for your purposes. I went with Oliver rods that were lighter and my main purpose there was to spin the crank faster + have strength. I took ~1 lb off of the rotating weight on the crank.

I have the Element Tuning Hydra, and I can't think of a better solution for you, especially with that 1.06 A/R turbine. Phil Grabow tuned just that combination to 678 whp on a dynojet.

You might want to consider using pistons that are slightly higher in compression, especially if you upgrade your cams. You'd get the benefit of better spool up and with the cams the dynamic compression ratio would take care of much of the detonation potential that usually comes with higher static compression.

I take that back. You may want to do rods regardless. That's a lot of power and no one really know the limits of the stock forged rods yet.
