I love the front end. They gave the sti recessed fogs, and a lip that kind of looks like the v-limited lip . Ohh and I love that gunmetal looking color. If only I had themoney

I just received the same email. It says it only has 293hp, what happened to the STI 300hp mark? Did they really take the 07 sti limited edition, and well... limit the power?

It looks nice though.

Same exact drivetrain as the 300HP STi's...it's just that for '07 a new HP rating system is used and it readds slightly lower than the old system.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepo...ied_horsepower

In 2005, the Society of Automotive Engineers introduced a new test procedure (J2723) for engine horsepower and torque. The procedure eliminates some of the areas of flexibility in power measurement, and requires an independent observer present when engines are measured. The test is voluntary, but engines completing it can be advertised as "SAE-certified".

Many manufacturers began switching to the new rating immediately, often with surprising results. The rated output of Cadillac's supercharger Northstar V8 jumped from 440 hp (328 kW) to 469 hp (350 kW) under the new tests, while the rating for Toyota's Camry 3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6 fell from 210 hp (157 kW) to 190 hp (142 kW). The first engine certified under the new program was the 7.0 L LS7 used in the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Certified power rose slightly from 500 hp (373 kW) to 505 hp (377 kW).

alright, I understand now, why don't they update the main site and advertise the STI as 300hp then. It never said SAE anywhere.

I also like the black brembo calipers, wish I had some.

This change is a bit annoying because, how do you compare old horsepower to new horsepower.

Does that mean 217 awd hp instead of 222 awd hp? So what! Still could use a little more pwr/wt. But I like the stealth direction it's taking. Mod after break in and 2000 miles more of wringing out the warranty testing.

It's a shame that they didn't offer the car in colors that were available for regular STIs. I'm sure there are folks that want leather and the big wing and I know there are folks that want the smaller wing on the regular STI.

Still, I'm glad to see Subaru actually offering choice. It was beginning to remind me of the late 90's when Subaru started forcing you to get trimlines based on the transmission you wanted on the Legacy. The Impreza got more options and the Legacy got less. It doesn't really make sense considering that the Legacy is the more upscale of the 2.

Do any Subaru parts people know if the limited spoiler will be available over the parts desk with ease? What sort of price would one be looking at?

Hopefully the new SAE rating system will keep manufactures from claiming overly high hp levels to boost sales, ie: Mazda rx-8.

38 thousan-dolla, good lord that a lot a money! I'd give them like 32 for an STI without a wing plus a 50 dolla seat heater. Oh wait, they are only making 800 so it's not that it's worth that much, it's just something for rare Subaru fanbois to say they have. I with I had two more hands so I could give it four thumbs down.
