Default OT: neatly placed garbage in parking lots

Well, it is not exclusively in parking lots but that is where I see it most. Why do people place their fastfood garbage in a neat little arrangement next to the yellow divider lines? Usually the cup is upright so they took the time to place it there carefully. Why not just chuck it out the window when they were done? Same results anyway.

Makes them feel like they weren't really littering?

Worse though is finding all sorts of peoples garbage in the box of my truck.
Happens all the time. Even found a 6 pack box of empty beer bottles last week. Took them in for the refund.

I hate it when people litter. A friend of mine once through a McDonalds cup out the window while I was driving. I was so mad I pulled over and made him pick it up. Just one of those things that really ticks me off.

Cheers,
SP

Agreed. I almost lose my coconut when I'm sitting in traffic behind someone and they start tossing cups, wrappers etc. out the window .

I can understand a sense of urgency requiring tossing things out of your car, when said item is like, say a grenade with the pin pulled and the spoon missing, or perhaps a biohazard transport container filled with ebola virus and the lid has loosened. I think everything else could probably wait until you get home or park next to a garbage can.

I just put one of those P.A. systems in my truck that plays sounds effects and lets you yell at other people. It pretty much paid for itself in the first day.The great thing is, it takes people a while to figure out which car is making rude comments.

At least by placing the garbage neatly on the lines, you are less likely to run over it. These litterers are quite considerate if you think about it. They could be throwing it on your car as you drive by. You have to look at this from a positive point of view

I think someone should return the gesture. I bet these people would appreciate it if they were heading out the door to go to work only to see their cars surrounded by neatly placed McDonalds cups, Burger King bags and such. That would probably make their day.

I once had a kid from a school bus toss some trash into the bed of my pickup at a stop light. I heard the 'thunk' but didn't know what it was until I got to my destination and saw the debris there. Mad as I was, I have to admit, I guess it was better than tossing it on the road, but, why do I have to throw out his trash. :P

If you are going to litter you might as well be tidy. I just toss it into my backseat floor.
