Default 04 sti with utec?

ok guys i really need some help. i have been a member of clubwrx for a while but my account stopped working so i figured id give this site a try. but to the point...i have been researching for quite some time now and still cant decide what to get. im leaning toward the UTEC ,its really expensive but it seems to be worth it. is it? and will it turn off my CEL? i have an Invidia catless TBE right now and i want to get something that will give me more power and that i can still mod my car with ..the AP looks good but it seems like i cant even buy an intake without buying the street tuner or something extra. i dont know. i would like to get around 400whp out of my car eventually .. so what do you think, is UTEC the best choice?

I have a UTEC in my car right now I have been messing around with it for a while now and I like it but I might upgrade to a Hydra within the next couple months. The UTEC is a great computer to learn how to tune on. If you plan on tuning the car yourself buy the UTEC if not buy the AP and get a protune.

There are a couple guys here locally that love there AP and as far as tuning with an intake IMO you should get your car tuned if you put any sort of performance part on it.

If you have tuned before get the AP+ST it is much more powerful than a Utec.
If you are just learning to tune get the Utec there are only 3 tables to tune. The Street Tuner has ~7 tables just for boost, then add all the other tables for fuel and timing.

I have both. The AP without ST is nice, simple, effective. You cannot tune yourself, except for loading pre-made maps. You cannot modify the maps. The AP WILL allow you to read and clear CEL codes, and most stage 2 maps disable the cat efficiency CEL codes, so your CEL light does not come on. But the rest of the CEL codes operate normally.

The UTEC allows you to actually TUNE your maps yourself, and switch maps more easily if you have the map selection switch. The UTEC will allow you to turn off ALL CEL codes, where your CEL light willnot function for ANY CEL codes. You cannot specify certain CEL codes to be disabled. At least I have not figured out how to do it.

AP with ST, I do not have and have not used, so I will offer no advice.
