Default Scientists - you got some esplainin' to do

So googlin' is so yesterday...asking random people on a car forum is where it's at.

So what's a double-blind test? Do they grab a few blind people, give them the drug, and watch what happens?

Is there a triple-blind? Or the dreaded deca-blind test?

Just curious.

Neither research nor subject knows which is the placebo and which is the real stuff.

It means neither the scientists or the subjects know who is taking the real stuff and who's taking a control substance.

It means neither the researchers nor the test subjects know if they are in the control or the test group.

It means they inject s*** into illegal immigrants/migrants and put an orange tag on their ear. Then in a year they see which ones are dead, which have huge breasts, which are blind, and which are fine.

Here's an example of a double-blind test.

Lets say you want to evaluate if people can tell the difference between audio CD's sampled at different rates. You would make sets of cd's where the first one is always the same, and the second one is randomally eiter the same or the other rate. The administrator nor the listener knows which type the second disk is. The results are recorded. When the results are evaluated, the identity of the second disk is known.

In a triple-blind test, tails are removed with a carving knife.

But really, in a triple blind test, you would have someone else make the sets. You, the administrator and the test subject would not know which was which, at least until after the test.
