Default Tuned Boost, Suggestions?

Hello,

Ive got a 2002 Silver WRX w/ full 3" TBE, UTEC rev 5.0, and a catless upipe.

Im running the stage 2 map and I modified the boost map to reach my desired 16.5 psi

Here is what I am logging after the modifications of the boost map.

Here is a chunk where I did 3000 to 6500 in 3rd gear. (i meant for it to goto 7k)

I guess now I need to learn to tune the Fuel map and see if I can stop the richness in the run... Im not sure where to start tho...

Also why dident the boost make it to 16.5 in the 3rd gear pull but it had no trouble on the highway pull? And if i tune the 3rd gear run to include 16.5 wouldent the higway pull go higher then recommended?

You really should have a wide band O2 sensor before you start tuning your fuel.

You will make more boost in higher gears due to engine load. Thats perfectly normal that you make more in 5th than 3rd.

You want the factory O2 to read "rich" during the pulls because it will say that for any AFR leaner than ~ 13:1 because of its poor resolution. If it says anything but "rich" under power thats no good. You need to have proper equipment to tune the fuel such as a wideband O2.

Boost curve looks great, you are off to a good start.

Out of curiosity is this an expensive item for a quality unit?

Expensive is subjective but generally you are looking at ~ 300 for most units. They do get a lot more pricy but there are at least 3 or 4 picks in that range.

If you have utec you should ONLY consider a tuner or tuner pro.

The tuner with the VW sensor has been selling for right around 370 dollars.

Used is also a good option. I got a used Tuner pro w/Bosch used for 330 over a year ago.

Same here! Got my Tuner Pro for $350 with only 7K miles on it with the Bosch sensor. Works great with the UTEC.

Hope I don't get flamed for going against the grain (and being a newbie), but I just got the LC-1 from Innovate and use it with the MPS UTEC Logger. Easy install (really easy) adn only $199 from Summit... Just a though.

I have a normal TXS Tuner (not pro). I bought it used for $240. The nice thing about the TXS Tuner or Tuner Pro is that they will log AFR right in your UTEC log files, which makes it far easier to use as you tune. I think that there are some bridge programs to allow you to log directly into your UTEC logs while running a non-TXS wideband, but I have no expereience with them. Running a stand alone AFR is better than nothing (of course!), but FAR less useful than one which logs wideband AFR values right into your UTEC log. My 2 cents worth.

another lc-1 user here. works well with both mpsuteclogger and UTI. logging from hyperterminal is a pain anyway. UTI ftw.
