Thumbs down This just keep getting worse!

Finally had a chance to look at the piston a little closer because I raised the engine and this is what I saw that I had previously missed

That also means that the turbo is also gone. what do you think?

Which piston is this one? Still #4, B? Or is this a different one? If you're lucky, the turbo should still be fine. Hopefully the whole chunk didn't break off all at once.

I presume this is an EJ25 piston, despite what your tag says about a 2.2L?

Hmm.. upper right hand corner of the number 4 piston.. and it's a "B". Interesting... I have five others that look just like it. From what I've seen, these pistons are brekaing apart in small pieces. There was no damage to my turbine blades on the turbo. Maybe you got lucky and will see the same thing.

Have you checked the turbo? Very possibly, the material that broke off has melted away to nothing before it had a chance to screw up the turbo. I believe mine finally got screwed up only after an inch or so of the top ring broke off and got caught in between the turbine and the housing while it was trying to spool up (SKREEEEEEEEE!!!!). What a painful noise.

Ihaven't checked the Turbo yet. I was trying to but that passenger rear up-pipe to turbo flange bolt is arguale the hardest bolt to get to on the whole setup. I finally stopped so I wouldn;t start throwing tools around. I'll try again later
