Post Top speed for MY00 Legacy.

I hit 130mph while on HWY 5 2am before the fuel cutoff engaged. The car actually accelerated better with partial throttle than full throttle during 100+mph. Maybe engine got stress out early from full throttle??

The speedometer was reading about 2 mph higher than GPS unit @100mph and @GPS' 130mph, the speedometer was reading more like a 133~4mph.

It was a crazy thing to do on public road, but glad there is M5 doing MUCH FASTER than 100mph (maybe 150mph??) to draw all the attentions.

Hi There,

130Mph eh (Canadian), that's 208 Kph. I thought our cars were speed limited to 185Kph (That's 115 Mph).

I guess if you did it, it must be true....

Are you sure you were really going that fast? Is that your final answer?

I've done 120mph before the human-panic cutoff kicked in, and it still had guts for more. I think "132mph" is the official top speed.

And 112mph is the computer-governed top-speed for those silly slushbox automatics.

My silly slushbox automatic got to an indicated 210 km/h with no sign of a rev limiter (indicating a steady and unstressed 5,250 rpm at this speed). Not much more to come at this speed. Subaru quotes a top speed of 206 km/h for the auto, and 208 km/h for the manual (not speed limited).

I would imagine that Subaru's quotes are based on a two-way average (average of head- and tail-wind runs, perhaps?).

Should point out that mine is an Aussie spec car.

A 98 GT LTD sedan (auto) did 119 in car and driver magazine... My LSi does cut off at 111.

This morning I shut it down at 120 mph in my 98 GT LTD with windows and sunroof open and no sign of the rev limiter. What a way to get your day going!

The "slush box" in my MY 01 L has seen the better side of 115 with no cut off yet. Go figure.

118 no rev limiter and plenty of power and RPMs to go faster. Scared to try it again.

But...

I'm driving cross country in August and it just so happens that the Bonneville salt flats are right along the way. Will give a report.

Sweet...

I knew the GT had more juice when I topped out (due to paranoia/traffic) at 115mph.

I'm interested what can be done on the salt flats.
