Question best up pipe/ catback exhaust diameter for stock turbo set up

i don't plan on upgrading from my 05 wagons stock turbo, and i heard that an up pipe with a diameter less than 2'' is the best for it.?.? And if so, what companies are less than 2''? Im also getting the catted helix DP, and am looking at a friends used tanabe ultra which is a 3.1 " exhaust off a STi. Or would i be better off going with a 3" or less on the stock wrx turbo? Im a daily driver that doesnt want to loose any low end torque, or have to get engine managment(maybe later for an upgrade). Also want to keep it on the quiet side. Need to know b4 i buy a set up. Thanx in advance

for the TBE go for 3" or so anything bigger would just be overkill..... as for the up try and get something the same dia as stock...(not sure off hand)....

If you are not going to use any engine management, don't mess with anything related to the engine on your car. The stock programming sucks...bad.

If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket, buy a catback. You will get some sound and your mind will think its faster..spend the extra money on a rear sway bar.

If you want to do engine mods, either get an accessport first, or save untill you have enough money to get a tune when you put on the up/turboback.

as for an up pipe, cheapest solution is to gut your own, next cheapest buy a gutted stocker off here, next cheapest after that is buying a used STi pipe (they dont have a cat at all)...up pipes are pretty much all the same, I wouldn't worry about it too much. FWIW, i have a helix (flex) up, because i got it in a package deal with the downpipe
