Default confusion with oem subaru 4-piston front calipers

some people have told me that the stock usdm wrx rotors work with these calipers, but others have said u need the larger jdm rotors to work.... who is correct?

Stock WRX rotors and the ones that come with the kit are exactly the same.

Look here:

There is a how to I did.

The pre-01 JDM rotors are the same size. As are the WRX rotors elsewhere in the world currently. The only larger-sized rotors are the new Brembo ones. The 4-pots fit fine with our stock rotors.

I have said this many times before, and rechecked many times, but when I got the full kit (rotors and calipers) for my old RS, the rotors that came with that kit were 298mm, not 294mm. Not a big difference, but true.

Question

Is there a rotor available for the US WRX (front) larger than OEM that will fit with the Subaru 4-pot calipers?

Looks like the Brembo is too wide.

Thanks and Happy Motoring

anything bigger in diameter would need a bracket
supposely, the Uk 4 pot comes with the larger bracket and uses a slighly larger rotor

I have UK 4pots/rotors and don't need any bracket. Still need to pull out the UK rotor to compare with US WRX rotor. I wouldn't surprise that they are the same size.

IIRC the UK and the 02 WRX (US spec) front rotors are the same or within 2 - 4 mm.

Any other possibilities? I guess the width of the caliper is the big limiting factor.

The Genuine Subaru is 294mm x 24mm.
The 4 piston Subaru caliper will not fit a larger rotor without modification of the rotor clearance radius in the caliper body.
Not recommended !
Larger rotors should increase in thickness proportional to the diameter for stabillity.
294mm = 24mm
305mm = 26-28mm
330mm = 28-32mm
343-355mm =32mm
362mm = 32-34mm
381mm = 35mm

Thumbs up

That's what I suspected. Bigger rotor = bigger caliper.

Happy Motoring!

There is a user sti-wrx that has installed them. You need to remove the rear dust shield but from what I've seen of his install everything else fits. Teague's auto sells a rear setup with DBA rotors that includes new dust shields I believe, and that fits as well. There was alot of speculation of having to swap hubs and the parking brake no longer working, but I'm not sure that's the case.
