Default Blitz TurboTimer Factory Alarm and Keyless Entry Solution *Pics*

The Definitive Blitz Turbo Timer Factory Alarm and Keyless Entry Solution. (and boost gauge install)

There are a few different Turbo Timer install threads currently active on NASIOC. The advice and solutions are sometimes incorrect, contradictory or incomplete. I know this issue confused the hell out of me and a number other of members. Also included is how to install the boost guage portion. (this is generic and will work for anyone installing a boost guage)

Before we continue:

- BUY THE WIRING HARNESS

- Install the TT following the instructions included. Its pretty easy to get the TT installed and working when using the harness.

- Locate the 2 BLUE clips under the steering column. Un-clip them and insert the 4 prong wiring harness

- Once the TT is installed and working you will have the following problem; While the TT is counting down the Factory Alarm will NOT arm and the doors will NOT lock when you press the keychain "Lock/Arm" button.

To fix:

1) Locate the Keyless Entry Module above the fuse box on the drivers side of the car (you should already have the under-dash taken apart by now so the Keyless Entry Module is directly above the fuse box.) Unscrew the nut and pull back the tape covering the wires. There are two GREEN wires both have BLACK stripes on them. You need to cut the DARK GREEN W/ BLACK wire. Cut it and taped both ends. Retape the bunch of wires and screw the Keyless Entry Module back into place.

2) Next, Locate the Security Module next to the e-brake under the ebrake cover (this should be very obvious once the cover is removed) Pull back the tape covering the bunch of wires. Locate the GRAY wire and cut it taping both ends. Retape the bunch of wires.

3) Lastly, Make sure the PURPLE wire from the TT is also spliced into the PINK wire next to the ebrake (as per instructions). This PINK wire is located on the passengers side of the ebrake under the carpet (right next to the ebrake, hidden under a flap of carpet, just one single wire). Simply splice the PURPLE wire from the TT into the PINK wire. (do not cut the PINK wire, just splice into it)

You should now see the following behavior:

1st Test: Start car, turn on TT, remove key from car, TT should start counting down, get out of car, and arm the alarm, the horn should honk, lights should flash, and the doors should lock, while the TT is still counting down (and car still running) unlock the door with the key and open it. The alarm should go off.

2nd Test: Start car, turn on TT, remove key from car, TT should start counting down, release ebrake, that should kill the car. (That is because of the splice into the PINK wire)

Ok that works! On to the boost gauge:

For boost gauge:

Here is a pic of where to tap for the boost vacuum line:

This is where Subaru taps for the OEM boost gauge. I know there are other places to tap but it works just fine here. I get very accurate readings

The Blitz T-fitting will NOT fit here you must go to Pep Boys and buy a new T-fitting. It should be this size: 1/4" 1/4" 1/8" T-Fitting. All I could find was a 1/4" 1/4" 1/4" T, so I also bought a 1/4" -> 1/8" fitting and an additional piece of 1/4" tubing. Here is a pic:

All Done:

Ok thats it.

Note: All the splicing, cutting and removing of wires are listed here. Nothing else needs to be touched, contrary to some advice!

Let me know if you have any questions.

No crapola!

The scoobymods instructions blow nuts. They have the wrong solution to the Security and Keyless lock problem.

To quote scooby mods:

"Another juction must be made from the accessory wire from the ignition harness. This must go to the other alarm module located in the center console. "

"There is a grey wire that goes to the sensor module. You must cut this wire and splice the accy wire on the module side. "

THIS IS WRONG. Thus causing all the confusion I had this weekend (and numerous other members) Splicing in the accessory wire will not arm the security system!! The horn will honk and doors will lock, but the alarm will NOT go off if you open the door.

They also don't have any good pictures about installing the boost gauge.

Does your alarm actually work? or does it just sound like it has been armed?

Don't worry about the wtly or search nazis. Not everything that is out there is correct and many people seem to forget that new members are always coming online.

anyone happen to know what kind of harness he used in his example? I have a blitz TT with the blitz harness and it looks nothing like the one he is using. I has 3 prongs on one end and 4 on the other with 2 black leads coming off it on the 4 prong end and a purple lead that is supposed to connect to the ebrake. I do not have any instructions with it since i got it used.

I'm pretty much sure this applies to all TT install (assuming that the harness used are all the same color thoughout brand name)

Chewy, I have one question for you.

Did you have to turn down the sensitivity of the alarm? Did the alarm go off when the TT is counting down?

thanks in advance,
jonathan

Hi guys,

Ok, I installed my TT today and there's something weird going on. When the E-brake is down, the "brake" light dims on. When I pull the E-brake up, it lights up normally. Is there something I did wrong that cause it to light up?
This is what I did:
Plug harness (HKS) in
Plug TT (HKS) to the harness
Cut and tape the Green/Black wire from keyless module
Cut and tape the Grey wire from security
Splice the Grey wire from TT to the pink wire

thanks in advance,
jonathan

Hey guys, I got some answers for ya:

>>anyone happen to know what kind of harness he used in his example?

Its the one from vivid. But I think the Blitz and HKS are the same.

>>have a blitz TT with the blitz harness and it looks nothing like the one he is using. It has 3 prongs on one end and 4 on the other with 2 black leads coming off it on the 4 prong end and a purple lead that is supposed to connect to the ebrake

This is NOT the harness you are describing. You are describing the TT sending unit. The harness has 3 ends (like a Y or T). 2 ends have 4 prongs (Thats what you see in the picture) the other end has 3 prongs and that goes to the TT sending unit. On the Sending Unit the 2 black leads are grounds, ground both of them. The purple goes to the ebrake.

>>Did you have to turn down the sensitivity of the alarm? Did the alarm go off when the TT is counting down?

Nope.

>>Splice the Grey wire from TT to the pink wire
That is what you did wrong. You run the single Purple wire from the TT the Pink ebrake wire.

There are more pics and install details on my web-site:

Alarm Shock Sensor issue:

YES. I have recently had a problem with the alarm being triggered. The alarm will sound when the engine is running IF THE FAN TURNS ON. Just recently I had the TT counting down with defrost on. If the car is ideling WITH DEFROST ON the fan will turn on after about 10-20 seconds. Since your TT is probably counting down from over 30 sec your alarm will be set off during count down.

Solutions:
1) Don't turn on defrost when the car is ideling.

2) Turn the alarm shock sensor sensitivity down. You can do this by going to the security module near the ebrake, there should be an adjuster on the module.

I did this with my Apexi TT today.

The thing that I didnt find..

"Next, Locate the Security Module next to the e-brake under the ebrake cover (this should be very obvious once the cover is removed) Pull back the tape covering the bunch of wires. Locate the GRAY wire and cut it taping both ends. Retape the bunch of wires. "

OK, I looked EVERYWHERE and there was NO gray wire. There was a gray wire COVER that had three other wires (none gray) inside it.

The result? The TT works, and I can set the alarm, but if I use a key and open the door - no alarm goes off.

FYI, I have the "stock" alarm - not upgraded security or anything.. and to be honest, I NEVER have seen my alarm go off before, so I dont even know if it will/did...

Any help?

Also - the Apex'i install connects to an O2 wire in the ECU that I couldnt find, but I will make a separate post for that.

FYI - these instructions are for WRX's with the "upgraded" Security system. The bone-stock WRX keyless entry does not have the gray wire to be spliced. So right now, if I get out of the car with the TT counting down, and I arm the alarm.. and then use the key on the door.. The alarm doesnt go off

Anybody know a fix?!

Ok here is a question. Do you loose any of the functionality of the alarm by cutting the green, and gray wires on the alarm? Is that something that ties into the ignition for the alarm? Because I believe that the security system has a starter interupt. Are you killing that feature with those two wires that you are cutting??

you only have the keyless entry system, no alarm there... if you have the upgraded security system, there would be an extra siren installed on the front passenger strut tower area.

what that means? no matter how hard you try... you won't be able to set off your 'alarm' on your keyless entry system!

you can test if the starter kill system is working by running your car and then remove key from ignition. At this point your TT should be counting down. While sitting in your vehicle, arm your alarm system by pressing the Lock button on your Key Fob. Wait at least 30 seconds, be sure your TT is still operating. After 30 seconds, insert your key and try to start your vehicle. If your Starter grinds, that means your Starter Kill relay has been disabled.

Also, another test is to have the TT off and then arm your alarm system. Wait another 30 seconds and while the vehicle is armed try to start the car again. If the Starter grinds, that means your Starter Kill relay has been disabled.

Good Luck!

Alarm Shock Sensor issue:

Hey guys, I finally actually turned down the sensitivity. Real simple. You'll need a small computer screwdrive (flat head). You can do this by going to the security module near the ebrake, there should be an adjuster on the module under a sticker/cover.
I turned it all the way down (turn to the left, counter-clockwise) and then up just a tad.

Works fine for me.

TT install is done.... finally.

you can also just ground the pink wire, and it'll work the same, good for those that don't always use their parking brake

great instructions though

Question blitz tt pink wire

I don't know what the deal is, I have searched and searched for the pink wire for the ebrake but i cannot seem to find it. There is a single green wire that attaches to the ebrake, (the wire seems to travel towards the rear of the car). Its a single wire right?! So i am not color blind its not one of the three wires that plugs in right in front of the ebrake? Well I will probably try the green wire in a minute.
