I dunno how much it is to play nor do I know how much it costs for each data card. I assume it's a buck a game and the data card to save all your mods, your car, and your name is another buck. I'm gonna go there this weekend. We HAVE to get an i-club.com meet and raid an Initial D machine. This'll be fun!

BTW, this is the US machine, so the Japanese data cards won't work, well, for those of you who already played it at Arcade Infinity in So Cal. Some of the machines that are here today won't have working memory cards due to some shipment issue, but they'll be up and running within the next few days. The US version still has Super Eurobeat music.

i talked to the sega rep and asked him how much it would cost to buy one and its only around 6-8 grand. tempting.... very tempting

Kind of off topic but I have one of these for sale. New it cost around 2-3 grand. I got it from the company that I use to work for, they upgraded to a better model. Its made by Interactive I\O and is Way better than anything on the market. The pictures do not do this thing justice. It works perfect, just like an arcade. It works with windows and uses a standard joystick driver. Im local so I could set up a demo if someone was serious about it.

Just got back from SV Golfland, and yeah..the game is almost the exact copy of the Japanese version, only difference is that its in English! Even the shifter is still on the left side. Oh yeah, the card works. My STi has already a upgraded muffler and some nice wheels.

The one here in Roseville is being installed RIGHT NOW. I was just there.

There were already 4 people waiting for it to be installed :p

I hope its not to crowded at 7pm...

Dan and I just finished playing it a little, and getting our cards for tonight...

I got 4 runs in, one against dan... Got only one upgrade though, i lost to that red FG6 Civic!!! :mad:

FUN game though, sooo easy to drift! The akina course is neat too...

But with the shifter on the left hand side, i opted for the auto... works fine.

OH, by the way, bring EXTRA money, that machine EATS tokens like crazy!!! :eek: I lost about $2 to it :(

And the seat on the left is stuck...

One of the machines eats tokens (if you kick it hard after each token and it works fine...Steve is just weak! :D)

And the one on the left does have a stuck seat, I'm 6'1 and I was a little cramped in there...but I could still drive

My Black GDA STI was quite nice, tho I really would like to try a RWD car to see how they handle.

I played the Akina track and beat the first Evo on my first try :D What a fun course! Those sequential hairpins KICK BOOTAY! :D

I got a syms spoiler for my GC8 too :p Like the one andrew and byron have! My favorite spoiler actually.

Anyway, i cleared Myogi, and beat the first two at the Usui, and the first evo at Akina (hard to do btw)

Hmm, interesting...

Bonus race:
Defeat all sixteen racers to face Takumi Fujiwara on the last track. Defeat him to unlock a race against Bunta (Takumi's Father) in Akina.

Yea, Bunta and his steel blue mica GC8 WRX STi. It's gonna be hard to beat a guy who can drift while lighting up a cigarette. :lol:

You guys go to Golfland in CA to play a racing game? OMG, Cali is the Street Fighter state in the nation. I would love to live in cali to play the elites there.

If you know any great Cali KoF or Capcom vs. SNK players, I dunno if you've heard of my friend by the name of "Crackpr0n". Awesome fighting game player. I think his specialty was Guilty Gear X, but that was like, last year.

I wish we had one of those machines here....maybe I can talk the owner of the local arcade into it, they need a good driving game. Right now I just play a lot of Sega Rally 2(i think thats what it is). If they got Initial D I would be there every day.

Well most of the Mall arcades are gone, along with independant arcades... There are a couple still around, like a nickel arcade down in San Jose, but most of this stuff has gone the way of the dodo...

Seems like the only surviving locations are Golfland type places, and Colleges...

That game is too tight.:D

Even the stock GC8 loves to drift.

I just did a bit of searching about the game today. Apparently you can do it in ver 2.

Dude, I know where to get photos of the Ver.2 machine! It's out in Japan, but even Arcade Infinity (the mecca of all Bemani games and they just got IIDX 8th Style!) doesn't have it yet. Man, the JDM machines have padding on the seats, the USDM ones don't. :(

And guess what? I got a knot on my lower back from that seat :p

Yea, that's cuz they're cutting down on costs of the machines. I also remember that the screen on the JDM machines are either more crisp or slightly bigger. I forgot.

Everything else seemed fine to me... screen filed my whole field of view, steering wheel was great, sound was great too albiet TOO MUCH MUSIC! :mad: And that shifter on the left is annoying (I had to choose auto)

Being a RHD style machine it definately feels odd. To make matters worse forward is down shift and back is up shift.

But i wouldn't have gotten at because there isn't a clutch to begin with.

BTW Does anyone do the short 1-2 shift. It seems to kill other people off the line. It gave me half a car on the skyline.

But i still like it.

Does anyone know about the clean card thing? Like there was something about it on the first page of your card stats.

i like how its RHD. And how the upshift/downshift is reversed.. its pretty natural to me.. even the 1st time i tried it.
