And what is your reasoning behind that(8k before switching)? Not trying to be rude, I just have never heard that figure before...

I did one oil change with Dino @ 1k miles and then switched to synthetic at 4k. Considering that many cars come stock with synthetics these days, there shouldnt be any issues with switching too soon. The only things that I have read is that in some cases a car may be too old to switch to synthetics as they can seep due to the fact that they are much thinner.

Always use OEM filters, just buy a case of them
