My guess is that (assuming the rumor to be true) something related to wind/elemets happend to the paint. I'm not an expert, but my guess is that the cars were exposed to the elements before it was time (paint wasn't dry, or they missed a layer of clear coat or something like that. Again, I'm no expert, but that's my guess. I think if it was struck my debris they would just say damaged, unless they just tell the customers that since it (wind damaged) sounds better than just damaged.
