My royal wheels are bronze in color, so the surface is painted but it has a more polished look to it, the insides of the spokes are more textured.

The surface itself looks fine after about a year of all season driving...its just very easy to chip and scratch. There are no signs of obvious oxidation or other corrosion in the paint, but they are full of nicks from lug wrenches and other stuff. ( I change wheels a lot for auto-x and track duty)
