I sent an email to the company marketing the pink filter asking the micron level, and any other proof to justify the price. There is an engineer who tests filters people send him, but he seems to have lost interest. His site is very telling though:
The standard filter is very stout and I have gone back to the Subaru filter for my daughter's 96 Impreza. However, My son has a WRX and I just bought an STi, and there is no doubt the oil should be changed frequently. Both these turbo cars are modified and seem to run rich at cold start. Some gas finds its way into the oil eventually and contaminates it, and no filter will help at all, just frequent oil changes. I intend to use the factory filter unless the numbers come back way different. If they do, the Mobil 1 filter or any other that goes to smaller microns is in the running, before laying out the whopping price for a "pink" filter. I will post their response if we get one.
