Default Lexus preparing new competitor for the Bmw 1-Series

There seems to be no hope for Lexus models that sell for less than $30,000 to reach the US market, although this wonít be true for other markets. In Europe, for instance, where diminutives, such as the Bmw 1-Series and the Audi A3 still gain high sales figures, and there are reports coming out that as early as 2010 Lexus will have a challenger for its German competitors.

Lexusí European sales target has been pegged at 150,000 units by 2015 and to reach this mark the Japanese carmaker will come up with a new entry-level model for the European market. Furthermore, there are also reports coming out that Lexus will be showcasing a concept variant of its 1-series competitor at the Frankfurt Motor Show this coming September, in advance of a 2010 launch.

The new Lexus model will be distinctly a hybrid patterned after the 2010 Toyota Prius, will be a compact hatch equipped with FWD and targeted to rival the highly-economical 4-cylinder diesel lineup of German brands. Pricing for the new model is reported to be lower than the Lexus IS 220Dís sticker price.
