Default Engine Overhaul

Finally came across some cash, so I ordered myself a new clutch. Im going to pull the motor instead of dropping the trans to do it (I hate straining my neck under the car that much). My car has 167 thousand miles with a mysterious past, so while the motor is out I want do all the possible maintenance things I can without splitting the block (my engine experience ends at removing the heads). I need some help figuring out exactly what all I should do. Also, would anyone recommend doing the head gaskets? I don't know if they have been done.

Working with a 95 ej18

-Timing belt
-Water pump
-Oil pan gasket
-Rear kidney plate
-Trans input shaft seal
-Rear main crankshaft seal
