Congrats to Adam and Andrew--who is he though?--I-Speed too? I guess my buddy missed those runs, since he blew his Type R on his first run. You're right though, he wasn't too happy.
I really feel for my buddy, but I'm beginning to think it's driver error or SOMETHING that's contributing to his blown motor woes. I've known/raced w/him for years (street racing in N. Cal back in the day & Laguna Seca, Sears Pt, SAC Raceway, Palmdale, & Famoso in Bakersfield), and he's a decent enough shifter & driver through the twisties, but I'm thinking he isn't too conscious of his tach and/or keeping track of his revs. It's gotta be something because as mentioned, he always has top quality parts & work under the hoods of his rides.
Oh well, 13.5 is pretty decent for a NA, 1.8L w/FULL interior/exterior...even if it was on slicks. He just tore down the motor today and looks like the head, valvetrain, & block are toast.
Guess it'll give him an opportunity to try out some new goodies he's been looking at though.
Btw, Chris, if you need a hired gun/pilot, lemme know...My dragging skills are pretty darn good if I do say so myself (been told that as well & have about 8 bracket racing trophies to boot)! I'm always more than willing to let loose on a car/tranny that's not my own!
