I always considered the Venza more expensive. Looking closer, it's almost 25% more expensive, in general. Edge and Crosstour aren't really in the ballpark, to me. Edge AWD's starting price 40% higher than Outback and Crosstour AWD's almost 50%! (These are 2012 numbers.)

Outback AWD MSRP range $23,295 - $31,695
Venza AWD MSRP range $28,875 - $37,915
Edge AWD MSRP range $32,930 - $38,960
Crosstour AWD MSRP range $34,440 - $36,540

Take AWD out of the equation, and Outback's still considerably cheaper, even with standard AWD... something like 20% cheaper than the cheapest Venza, IIRC.

If you can afford Venza, Edge or Crosstour, I can see cross-shopping Outback to save some serious money. Same reason Subaru appeals to some Euro-brand owners.
