I put 10k miles on my Toyo Observe Garit KX last season. 50% pack, 20% unplowed, 10% ice, 20% dry pavement. Great tire studless tire... It has a silica compound, and crushed walnut shells. Slightly more expensive, but they have a high wear life. If I were to guess, 5 more seasons left if the roads stay nice and icy... I will be buying these again.

I am willing to bet my car sees more winter weather than 97% of nasioc. Assuming 3% of you are ski patrol at your local mountain and drive up before the plows... and after everyone has left.
