I realized a while back that the labor costs of installing a part are often greater than the cost of the part itself. The main advantage of doing at least some of your own work is that you can afford to buy more parts and do even more stupid stuff.

My time isn't cheap, but it's also not the $100/hr I can expect to pay a mechanic in this neck of the woods.
