For specific applications I suppose it could be a benefit, but you'd probably want an RA set or something stronger I would think.
It's actually shorter gear ratios and the shorter 4.111. It's comparable to driving a 2.5RS. If you ever get to drive an '08 Outback NA 5spd it has the same ratios and final drive. Parts will start moving faster and being geared shorter, RPMs rise quicker thus gearing advantage helps move the car.
The RA gear set is nice. Thicker and shorter geared. The RA transmission driving experience; speed and gear spacing is like our '04 STi without 6th gear.
