So, I am mostly wrapped up with installing my rotated kit and redoing my exhaust in intake. After burping the coolant system, noticed a whine in my power steering pump. It was working fine before I took apart my car. I had to disconnect the high pressure side to relocate my turbo coolant reservoir, but I reconnected it and torqued it back to spec.
So, I disconnected the reservoir and elevated it above the engine level and tried to burp it. There was plenty of foam and bubbles that didn't seem to ever get better regardless of how many times I turned the wheels. It seems like there is a leak in the system letting air in, so the next obvious thing was maybe the crush washers on the banjo bolt. I replaced them with new ones, but burping the line produces the same result.
From searching on this forum, it seems like it could be:
- o-rings <= maybe
- hose clamps <= not sure
- belt loose <= don't think so, for my case
1. should my next move be to just replace the o-ring on the high presure side, or should I take it off and replace all of the o-rings and clamps.
2. Is running the power steering pump with some air in it going to destroy it, as in, I shouldn't use my car at all until I have it sorted?
3. Is my pump already toast, and I just need to suck it up and buy a new one?
