Hope to get some clarity.

Driving a 2012 impreza sport limited.
I'm in the same spot, except with a 2013 impreza sport limited. Manual has the same problem, and says I can use "spring chains." Unfortunately, the tires (Yokohama Avid S34 205/50 R17 88V all-season tires) do not say "M+S," so I think I need chains.

1) Can someone explain the difference between spring chains and tire chains?
2) Any suggestions on good spring chains?
