All of that oil being burned and/or dumped into the front cat. is not good for it, and could severely shorten the life of the converter.
I know the emissions warranty is 5yr/50K, but I'd expect the system to last well beyond that under normal circumstances. You don't need the converter failing at 50,001 miles.
I'm assuming that the oil isn't making it to the second converter, but...
Actually, the Federal Emissions Defect Warranty that covers the catalytic converter is for 8 years or 80,000 miles.....and if you live in a "California Emission State", then it's 15 years or 150,000 miles.
For those of you that are having actual oil consumption issues, have your dealer do an oil consumption test.....repairs are being made to cars that are going thru more oil than the threshold allows. (There's one in my shop right now)
