Sort of, Extra-S is a Subaru product but it is certainly not the dealer fill oil (I'd only believe them if I saw them open a new drum and pour directly into my car). Extra-S is 75W90 as any 10 second Google search will find for you. Extra-S is non-synthetic that performs well with the 6MT syncros in most weather conditions.

As he noted, servere use will certainly use up the additive goodness in any oil, decreased drain intervales is a must if you do a good deal of track use. I also agree that the dealer is a moron who has probably never read the service manual.

v - As in "Subaru Extra 80w90" and "Subaru Extra S 75w90"? i've not looked that much into it, so I have only bought Extra-S 75w90 that is imported from Japan in the larger pails.
