It seems counterintuitive but you'd do better if you rode in the left part of the lane. The Motorcycle safety foundation teaches this. When you're way over on the right, people (even the non-malicious ones) think they can squeeze between you and the center line even with traffic comin toward them. If you're on the left, they have to pass as they would a car. I understand your feelings though, it happened to me often enough that I finally quit riding. I just felt I'd used up all my luck and some bozo in a 4 wheeled vehicle wa gonna get me killed.
