Hey folks. I'm about to buy a '94 Impreza L FWD wagon with about 200 gozillion miles on it. Right now I have a '91 Legacy L with a bad tranny, but a motor that runs like a champ. I'm considering doing this same swap, and possibly trying to do a build-up on the 2.2 before it goes in there.
Here's the kicker, though. I just put a bunch of new parts in my Legacy, like axles, cv joints, struts, tires, and a host of other parts. How many of these things can I take with me when I do this swap? Will the axles just pop right in, or will they be too long? I'd imagine if I do any build up, the newer axles would be better suited to handle the stress. I'd also guess that the 1.8 axes are probably not as chunky. I dunno, though, maybe they are?
I'd also like to eventually convert this car to AWD, but I'm not going to even start asking about that in this post. SO, if someone could direct me to the proper place, I'd more than appreciate it. Thanks.
