Yeah its a pain. What I did on mine was remove the oil filter and just pry it off from that corner there. It took some time, but it eventually popped off (though there were a few marks on the block in the area I was prying. It hasn't leaked in over a year though, so I think its fine).
The easiest way to get the pan off the oil pickup is once the seal is broken on the pan, you should have enough room to loosen the three bolts holding the pickup to the engine. Some say this isn't necessary, but I couldn't find a way to do it without doing this first (keep in mind, I didn't jack the engine up off the cross member like most people do. If you do this step, you may be able to remove the pan without loosing the pickup)
