Anything less, it's not the proper way to do it.
Its as close as you can get without spending hundreds on new wiring. My method is fully heatstrunk and I have no question about its weatherproof nature. You don't like the method, fine, but don't come here and **** on me for finding another method that works 99.9% as well and offering to show people how to do it.
