…well, obviously something wasn’t right with that gear after the incident. I think it’s glaringly obvious (and logical) to conclude that the misshift damaged something and led to the eventual catastrophic failure you experienced. When components are stressed beyond what their design was intended to handle, it is not unusual for them to develop latent damage that may not immediately present. In your case the signs were there but were ignored. ….and then eventually the failing component(s) broke. It sucks, but it is what it is.
