I must say that I am surprised for a few reasons.
First of all I based my purchase on a few things.
I researched the Baja springs and saw on an Outback forum that someone had upgrade their Outback springs with Baja Springs but kept the Outback shocks. I also saw a picture of the Baja and outback springs side by side and they were the same hight but different girth.
Second I also looked at the Monroe`s available for the Baja, they listed that they also work on 00-04 Outback. I assumed that if they also work on the 00-04 outback then the reverse should also be true.
The outback shock is shorter, not by much, but it`s shorter. the shaft might be 3/4 inch shorter on the outback and the caseing is also shorter but it doesn`t make much of an impact on overall length staying at about 3/4 inch shorter.
Everything is is pretty much the same, It would bolt up that`s for sure. You`d have to compress the baja spring a lot in order to regain that 3/4 inch difference.
