I want that gun you posted. It looks exactly like what I want out of an AR - flat top, ACOG scope, railing system. I need someone to educate me on the things because I have no idea what a good brand is. The guy I got my pistol from has a cougar arms AR-15 that looks pretty good to me for $900. I have no idea if that's a good price for that rifle or not*

If you're gonna buy some 5.56, do NOT pay more than 50 cents a pop, aka $10 for a box of 20. Most gun shops charge 100% more than what you can buy online sadly. When you buy 1K from online stores or good local stores (Guns and Shizzle, right behind Tactical Tailor in Lakewood) you pay between 33 and 37 cents a pop. Russian Wolf comes in at 26 cents a pop, but it's not good stuff by any means, as it's very underpowered and the steel casing is harder on internal components.

Now's not a good time to be getting into the firearms hobby. But it's now or never,

Also, that pictured rifle i had uses a Daniel Defense LITE rail that's no longer in production. All those lightening holes are awesome, but eat up large amounts of machine shop time. That barrel is limited production, and uses overboring to produce better than better accuracy than other chrome lined barrels.

If i had waited just 3 months more to sell...

I'd be very suspicious of a $900 AR-15. If it's a Vulcan/Hesse/Blackthorne, it's basically the same as a Ford Pinto waiting to blow up. NO JOKE. Cheap AR-15s like DPMS, Model 1 Sales, are ok... they are like 98% as good as premium brands such as Colt, LMT, Noveske. When you buy premium, you buy extra features than only people in LE/MIL really need, like 4150 CMV barrel steel (better resistance to high heat), 1/7 twist (for firing specialized ammo), M4 feedramps (for better feeding during fast firing/full auto).

If you wanted an premium AR-15 for cheap, i could help you build one from parts. You'll however, want to get a stripped lower receiver ASAP. $160 is the going market price on a RRA/Stag/Double Star lower receiver from internet dealers. Factor in $25 for a FFL background check/transfer fee from a local dealer, and compare to local prices.
