my wife has had 3 VW Jetta's and they never last to the recommended mileage, and the pulleys and water pump are in pieces as that point too...had her last 1.8t jetta timeing belt replaced at 80k (VW says 105K) and the belt was okay looking but the water pump literally fell apart (cracked in half and the impeller was badly cracked too) and the pulleys had cracks all over them

$700 bones to replace now...or $3000-5000 later for an engine - get the pulleys and water pump too
