This is a good point to consider. The STI does have deeper gearing with the 6MT vs the 5MT of the WRX. Adding additional torque multiplication has a great way of affecting the butt dyno and makes you feel like you're going quicker than you really are. It doesn't necessarily equate to faster acceleration at all times such as 0-60 or even the 1/4 mile.

Stock for stock, the STI and WRX run very similiar 1/4 mile times and the WRX is actually fractionally quicker to 120mph. The STI's gearing is better suited to track duty, outside of auto-x. The STI puts down about 5-10whp more to the wheels, but weighs around 150lbs more than a WRX.
