Default JDMRacingMotors- a review

I wanted to share my experiences with JDMRacingmotors on here for you fellow Nasioc'ers

About 1 year ago, I was in a situation where I needed a new motor quick after having attempted a failed hybrid swap (valves were off). Anyway I was stressing about how to go about my non-running car situation, and with nursing school starting up, this added more pressure to get this car running.

Should I go with another ej205 and risk throwing a bearing? Try to rebuild even though that would take a lot more time?

After some luck at the casino (God felt bad for apparently helped me win $1500 in one night) I decided to look at subarus most reliable motors. JDM STI version 7's and version 8's come to mind. I searched around before reaching JDMRACINGMOTORS.

JDMracingmotors is a company that has 2 (maybe more) warehouses. One is in Canada, and one is in VA. I got on the phone with Wali, who was more than helpful in my hunt for a reliable motor. He directed me into getting a Version 7 motor because they were marginally cheaper than the version 8, but also came with the forged internals. Well, after talking about it, he ran out of the Version 8 motors, but DID find me something better. A JDM STI limited version 7 motor. This is the same exact motor as the JDM STI version 7 Spec-C motor. The only difference is the turbo (vf30 instead of vf34). Still has the forged internals, and the big port heads of the version 8s. What a perfect combo.

Wali gave me a great deal. He included everything I need for the swap including the TMIC, turbo, clutch, ECU, etc. (EVERYTHING you need to have it running). Mileage: around 30K miles. He also threw in JDM version 7 aluminum control arms.

All I can say is Wali is the easiest guy to talk to. He is very helpful, and returns messages promptly. You can call him, email him, or in my case (facebook chat him) and you will get whatever you need at an affordable price....

My motor was installed and tuned and hasn't had a hiccup in over 10 months since the swap. Put about 10K miles on it. So far, very reliable.

Fast forward to last week, I was thinking of spicing up my interior. I was looking for some nice JDM version 7/8 STI seats. Now I am an opportunistic shopper, and look for very good deals before committing. I searched the forums, and all the private deals seem to value the JDM sti seats very highly. Prices varying from $550-$800 picked up.

I searched ebay before stumbling upon a set of Version 8 STI seats for cheap! Funny thing was, the seller ID was JSpecAuto, and the pictures they had looked AWFULLY familiar, so by chance, I contacted Wali again. I asked if he knew Jspecauto. Of course he did, its their VA warehouse. So I told Wali I was interested in those ebay seats, and if he had version 7 STI seats, would he be able to ship those to me. Well to my surprise, Wali made me an even sweeter deal. He told me, "I'll ship them to you for even cheaper and will ask chris (VA) to find the cleanest set for you."

Less than a week later: BOOM! Got these!

VERY CLEAN! They just have a funky lil odor from sitting in the warehouse I assume, but I can't complain.

To JDMracingmotors/JSpecauto and Wali. Thanks for everything! Anyone who wants JDM parts, TALK TO THEM! they will give you a great deal! A+ Never been so impressed with a company.
