Combination of laziness and the fact that it was 29 degrees and constant 30mph winds all day long... I wasn't sure how well the sticky summer RE070's would do. But, turns out that it's still beneficial to run R-comps even when it's below freezing.

Strangely enough, it was very educational. When I first autocrossed the car on RE92, I got so frustrated that when I turned the wheel in it would result in the plow of death. This was mainly due to my inability to comprehend the advantage of a gradual, smooth steering input, and my spastic, adrenalized-beginner 'maximum attack' autocrosser syndrome.

Then I tried the RE070, and that was a sticky enough tire to recover very quickly from my binary inputs. More of a bandaid than a fix. But then I attended an AutoX school, and some concepts started to sink in... and after I put the RE92 back on for the winter, I found that they responded MUCH better to smooth inputs. They are obviously not that sticky, but I was able to 'hold the line' on almost all my runs, without blowing them wide (and losing seconds) with the plow of death.

Will you be there Sat? We can have a RE92 showdown! I think you pwned me at the last one, though.
