They really make very little difference when they are on -- in the dark, and in the fog. Maybe they are aimed wrong from the factory, but I cannot tell much difference when they are on.

If you are going to tell me that they have to be dim, to work in fog, that is just plain dumb.

If they were brighter, they might serve a purpose other than being marker lights, which is what they are right now with the factory bulbs (what are they, 35 watts of pure fog busting power?)

Yes, and so would most of us who think they suck. See how that works!
Light does not "cut through" fog, unless you plan on having beams so bright and hot that the fog evaporates. The location and beam pattern of the lights is designed so that the light is not reflected back in your face. Bright lights only illuminate the fog, they do not pass through it.
