you can get the music off of it for free. make sure you have hidden folders visible. then go into your ipod, youll see a folder called i think "ipod control" then there will be a LOT of folders that are F## (F and one/two numbers) those store all your music/video. now you can copy all of those to your desktop. once that is done, make them so they are not hidden. all of them. including subfiles and folders. then go into itunes, in the settings make it keep your itunes library organized. set the location to somewhere OTHER than where the F## folders are. then go to file, import, and select the MAIN folder, not the F## folders themselves, but the one up from that. it will then import them, read the tags, and organize them accordingly
NOTE: there will probably be songs that come up as QFES or something similar. it means that it couldnt read the tag for the name. you can try to match them up if you want
